Principle #1
Step 2: Create a Schematic Plan
A schematic plan is the backbone of plan development.
To create a schematic plan, lay a piece of tracing paper
over your base map and begin to inventory and analyze
your property. Record what you know about sun exposure,
views, area functions, privacy, public space, drainage
patterns, grade problems, water requirements and themes.
By drawing “bubbles” around areas on your
plan, you can begin to get a feel for the design of
your landscape. Use several sheets of tracing paper
to get a good concept worked out.
