Public Meetings May 2006

In May 2006 four public meetings were held in Cortez, Durango, Silverton and Pagosa. Maps and handouts discussed at those meeting are provided below.

San Juan Plan Alternatives

The following DRAFT maps represent the Alternatives that agencies will be analyzing in the Enviornmental Impact Statement (EIS) that will accompany the Plan. (Maps updated 10/23/06)

Alternative A: This map reflects current management and the "No Action" Alternative (5MB).

Alternative B: This map reflects the "Preferred Action" Alternative (5MB).

Alternative C: This map reflects some different management ideas that are worthy of analysis. In particular, this alternative analyzes the benefits and impacts of managing many of the inventoried roadless areas as a Theme One--Natural Processes Dominate, i.e., maximizing protection and preserving the undeveloped and undisturbed characteristic of these areas (5MB).

Alternative D: This map reflects some different management ideas that are worthy of analysis. In particular, this Alternative analyzes the benefits of managing more lands as a Theme 5-Active Management, and managing the inventoried roadless areas under a Theme 3-Natural Landscape with Limited Management (5MB).
