43. Size-resolved organic compositions in atmospheric nano- to micro-scale particles at roadside

Akihiro Fushimi, Shuichi Hasegawa, Kiyoshi Tanabe and Shinji Kobayashi

National Institute for Environmental Studies, Japan

Continuous monitoring of atmospheric particles was performed at a roadside site with heavy traffic through half a year. Size distributions of nano-scale particles were measured by Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer (SMPS). Size resolved nano- to micro-scale particles were collected on aluminum plates by low pressure impactor (LPI).
These samples were extracted by an organic solvent and analyzed by Gas chromatograph /Mass spectrometer (GC/MS). Organic compositions of particles were different according to their size. Elemental carbon and organic carbon were measured by the Carbon Analyzer (DRI) at the same site. From these results, size-resolved organic compositions in atmospheric nano- to micro-scale particles were discussed.
