Organic and elemental carbon in PM2.5 was analyzed by thermal
optical method and compared in Tokyo, Tsukuba, Beijing, and Mexico
City. OC/EC concentration and ratio depends on some factors (e.g.
emission source and secondary formation). OC/EC ratio is higher
in Tokyo than in other sites. In addition to the international
comparison of OC/EC, the limitations of pyrolysis correction for
partitioning OC/EC in thermal optical method are also discussed
                in connection with sample collection.
